4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

There were several different media technologies used in our music video all of them serving a different purpose to research, create and analyse the media piece.

The first and one of the most vital use of media technology is our media blog. This blogs purpose was to inform our viewers of the progress of our group’s media piece.

The blog allows us to post text and images of our current research and construction into the music video. The blog is easy to use and allowed use to create new posts and publish online.

Another way off of informing our audience is through the use of social media. Previously our group has used twitter to post updates. This year we decided to use Facebook as it is better designed to share video and music.
For research we used the internet. We looked into the home pages of other artists to compare and gain ideas for our website. We watched other music videos on YouTube to create a foundation of codes and conventions to follow.

For the construction of our website we used weebley.com. This interactive website allowed us to create our own site that we can add videos, images and text to.
To design our Digipak we used Adobe Fireworks, this software allowed us to create identical canvases to insert images and text to form our Digipak.

For the construction of our music video, Adobe software were used to edit and design different areas. This was useful because the advantage of adobe programmes is they work best together.

For our image editing we used Adobe fireworks. Using this programme we were able to merge image together and edit colours and shapes of the image. Our group created a music label logo “Hollow House”. This image was created in Fireworks and saved in a group folder to be used in the music video.

To edit the music and other sounds in a format that would be able to copy onto the video, we used Adobe sound booth. This software allowed us to crop the music files from YouTube and also cut out areas of the music. This was appropriate to cut out and sensor our music video so that all inappropriate words were discarded.

To edit, create and finally construct the music video the software we used was Adobe premiere pro. This software was most important to our music video creation. This programme allowed use to use all the clips that had been filmed on the camera and upload them from a saved file onto one area. Then we can order, transform and apply transitions to the shots to form our music video. To finish, the software allows us to export the edited video into a format that can be played via windows media player and uploaded on YouTube.

For evaluating our media piece we used a different technology. Prezi was used to make a step by step interactive map. This presented our information of one evaluation point in a more entertaining manor.
